I haven't seen that before and I have tried to nail that groove so many times. My problem is gaining the consistency on the high hat when I add the base drum part in the mix. He makes it look so effortless...

Hey Gary, i had a problem with this so i played the hi hat with the bass drum and only when i was comfortable , added the snare ( experiment with different combinations). and like randy says SLOWY - i've wasted hours trying to play something faster than my ability allowed

This groove has been so difficult for me to approximate over the years. Finally, I decided to dedicate several months of working on this really slowly (as Randy says) with a drum and bass machine playing this groove.

It's paying off...still more work to do though!
